The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan and presided over by Justice A. L. Akintola has granted approval for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to proceed with its Elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Delivering judgment in Suit No. I/1336/2025, filed by Folahan Malamo Adelabi, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Justice Akintola ruled that the PDP, its servants, agents, or officers must not truncate, frustrate, or disrupt the guidelines, timetable, and schedule of activities leading to the convention.
The court further ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy monitors and observers to the event to ensure compliance with electoral laws, thereby reinforcing transparency and legitimacy in the exercise.
Additionally, Justice Akintola directed Rt. Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), to continue with all necessary preparations for the convention.
The ruling effectively removes any legal obstacles previously threatening the event, paving the way for the NCOC—led by Governor Fintiri—to finalize arrangements for the participation of over 3,000 delegates, including statutory delegates, governors, National Assembly members, and other stakeholders from across the country.
