Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed Beijing’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing Nigeria as a “comprehensive strategic partner.”
“China firmly supports the Tinubu administration as it leads its people on the development path suited to its national conditions,” Ning said.
She emphasized that China “firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force.”
Ning’s comments came in response to a question about US President Donald Trump’s warning of possible military action in Nigeria, a move that has drawn global attention and concern over rising diplomatic tensions.
