Agabi informed the court that the defense team decided to step down after Kanu reportedly took back the case from them.
All the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) on the defense team have also withdrawn from the case—a move Kanu confirmed during the court session.
Addressing the court, Kanu stated that he would represent himself for now, though he did not rule out engaging new counsel in the future. When the presiding judge asked if the court should assign him a lawyer, Kanu declined.
In his oral submission, Kanu argued that the court lacks the jurisdiction to try him.
