A fight broke out on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Rivers State Secretariat between a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Director of Finance and Accounts.
The altercation reportedly began after the Permanent Secretary allegedly instructed the Director to transfer N22.2 million—funds meant for a joint project involving three ministries—into a private account. The Director declined, insisting that such a transfer required approval from all three Permanent Secretaries.
The disagreement escalated into a heated argument and eventually a physical confrontation, drawing in other staff members, including a female Director.
The brawl left some participants injured.Efforts to obtain a response from the Rivers State Head of Service, Inyingi Brown, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
